Manage Non SIS Savvas Student Passwords in EasyBridge
There are situations that merit teachers and students logging directly into the Savvas learning platforms, such as when the Student Information System (SIS) is temporarily unresponsive, and does not provide access to EasyBridge. These are referred to as Savvas (secondary/backup) credentials, and are different from the SIS or district portal login. However, they provide the same level of access to classes and content on Savvas learning platforms for teachers and students. The following provides all possible options a districts can elect when managing Savvas passwords.
Note: It is not recommended to change the password management configuration mid-year if you are an existing EasyBridge district. Should your district need to make user management election changes, contact your Solution Engineer or K12 Technical Support to help determine next steps.
If your district has opted to allow student Savvas password management directly through EasyBridge, use the instructions in the Update Passwords for Students section to locate and/or change a password for an integrated learning platform. It is important to know that password changes apply to the student’s credentials for all classes related to the learning platforms. Should another teacher subsequently change a password for his/her class for a student enrolled in another teacher’s class, that student will now have a different password for all Savvas learning platforms going forward than what was initially assigned. See example below.
Student 1 is in Teacher A’s class and Teacher B’s class.
Teacher A sets the entire class password to DOG.
Teacher B creates an individual password for Student 1 of CAT1 after Teacher A created the class password of DOG.
Student 1 must sign in with CAT1 since that was the most recent password reset.
- District manages all teacher and student password changes.
Teachers cannot change their own password in the EasyBridge user interface, nor passwords for any of their students. Teachers can, however, still reset their passwords by clicking the “Forgot your username or password?” link on the login screen. If teachers reset their password using this link the password will not match the ingestion file and that teacher’s login will be out of sync with the file.
- District manages all student password changes, but allows teachers to manage their own password changes through EasyBridge.
Teachers can change their own passwords through the EasyBridge user interface. They will only see a list of their students in EasyBridge. All student password changes are managed through the nightly ingestion files.
- District manages teachers’ passwords, but allows teachers to manage their students’ passwords through EasyBridge.
Teachers cannot change their own password directly in the EasyBridge user interface. However, teachers have the option to change a password for the entire class (same password for all students) or change a password for an individual student. (See note about multiple teachers changing students' passwords.)
- District allows teachers to change their own passwords, and their students’ passwords through EasyBridge.
Teachers see the usernames of students in their classes, and password fields in the EasyBridge user interface. Teachers have the ability to change a password for the entire class (same password for all students) or change the password for an individual student. (See note about multiple teachers changing students' passwords.)
